During Environment Week, we held comprehensive events at our Söğüt Gold Mine to expand our sustainability culture.

At our Söğüt Gold Mine, we carried out comprehensive activities during Environment Week in order to increase environmental awareness and to ensure stronger adoption of our sustainable mining approach by our employees. We aimed to make our understanding of environmental management an integral part of our business culture by enriching our program this year with practices that are both informative and touch the daily habits of the participants.

As Gübretaş Maden, we do not only focus on technical success while carrying out our production processes; We see reducing our environmental impacts and contributing to the protection of natural resources as our fundamental responsibility. In line with this approach, our Environment Week events are specially designed to strengthen our employees' awareness of environmental issues and help them acquire sustainable habits in their daily lives.

We Saw Our Individual Impact with the Carbon Footprint Awareness Study

The Carbon Footprint Awareness Study, one of the important studies within the scope of the week, offered our participants the opportunity to calculate their personal carbon footprints and concretely see their environmental impacts throughout their life cycles. As a result of the study, evaluations were made on how to develop more sensitive behavioral models on many issues, from energy consumption to transportation preferences, from nutritional habits to waste management. Thus, our employees experienced once again that environmental impact is not only a corporate but also an individual responsibility.

Our Environmental Improvement Suggestions Competition Attracted Great Interest

The Environmental Improvement Suggestions Competition we organized strengthened corporate awareness with a fun and participatory process. Thanks to the competition, our employees evaluated the improvement opportunities observed in daily operations from a broader perspective and developed creative suggestions about environmentally friendly ways of doing business. This constructive perspective on our operational processes also increased internal interaction to improve our sustainability performance.

We held the award ceremony of the competition by coming together in our business and presented the awards to our colleagues who were successful. However, we find all the suggestions participating in the competition extremely valuable and aim to evaluate them within the Sustainability Projects planned in the coming period. Every suggestion from our employees is seen as an important step contributing to our sustainability journey.
